Hillcrest Gym
The Hillcrest Christian College Gym is on the Mezzanine inside the MPC (Multi Purpose Centre).
I think its great that Hillcrest has a gym because of the fact that I like to workout and therefore go to it nearly every lunch time and 2 mornings a week. Of course I'm not the only one that uses the gym, quite a few guys in my grade and the other grades use it.
But, yes there's always a but, It is very small. In fact, I'd say it's 6 metres long by 3.5 metres wide, so as you can imagine, there really isn't much room provided for equipment or working out.
There isn't a very wide range of equipment -
Dumbbells - Weighing from 1kg - 25kg.
Bench Press Machine.
4 Bikes (2 different types).
3 Treadmills.
3 Rowing Machines.
1 multi purpose machine.
So as you can see, there's equipment for arms, shoulders, back, legs and a little for chest. However there isn't much for the core, abs and chest.
Therefore, I think the gym needs an extension, so we have room for more equipment such as maybe a Pec Fly, Boxing bag and actual more workout room.
Hopefully there'll be more equipment next year..
I thought I'd share with you one of the small workouts I do:
Warmup:
Stretching
30 Push ups
10 Pull ups
Workout:
8 x Full Bicep Curl - each arm.
15 x Shrug - each arm.
15 x Overhead Tricep Extension
15 x Tricep Dip
Another exercise I can't remember..
8 x Bench Press
Repeat 3 times (without the Warmup)
So, its an arm exercise for your Biceps and Triceps, try it out and see if you can do it.
If you can't do another set after your first or second than just bring down the weight a little - I recommend for your first time trying it with 10 kg weights.
